Later, the journalist alleged that he was subjected to torture. The journalist was allegedly thrashed when he was covering a train derailment in Dhimanpura on Tuesday night.

According to ANI news agency, the journalist associated with a news channel, said, "They were in plain clothes. One hit my camera and it fell down. When I picked it up they hit and abused me. I was locked up, stripped and they urinated in my mouth."

The journalist was reportedly dragged to the GRP police station in Shamli and put behind the bars. He remained detained for the night while an order has been issued to release him on Wednesday morning, ANI further reported.

In more videos being circulated on Twitter, the journalist can be seen narrating his ordeal from behind the bars while Station House Officer (SHO) Rakesh Kumar sits on a chair outside and rejects all his charges.

Media reports say that, the journalist told his colleagues who were protesting at the police station that he was being subjected to this torture because of a negative story he did on the railway police force.

Soon after this incident became an outrage in the country, SHO Rakesh Kumar and constable Sunil Kumar have been suspended and sent to the police lines for their actions. Meanwhile, UP DGP, OP Singh has ordered for immediate suspension of SHO GRP Shamli Rakesh Kumar and Constable Sanjay Pawar.

Police said strict punishment shall be accorded to policemen misbehaving with citizens.
