Jaggi Vasudev, popularly known as Sadhguru backed the Vedanta-owned Sterlite copper plant in Thoothukudi on Wednesday. Sadhguru is a spiritual leader who runs Isha Foundation.
Jaggi Vasudev gave an interview to CNN News18 on Sunday and made controversial comments on Sterlite to which many reacted. Unwilling to back down, he further tweeted his support for the copper giant and wrote, "Am not an expert on copper smelting but I know India has immense use for copper. If we don't produce our own, of course we will buy from China. Ecological violations can be addressed legally. Lynching large businesses is economic suicide.-Sg”
Similarly, Patanjali cofounder Baba Ramdev too had recently met with Vedanta CEO Anil Agarwal and extended his support to Sterlite. However, both, Ramdev's and Sadhguru's tweets did not focus on the social aspects of the problem and only concentrated on the economic benefits.
