Is 'Work From Home' Over? - Here is What IT Companies Think! - Details

India is yet to flatten the COVID-19 curve, due to which various companies are refusing to bring workers back into the office premises. IT companies have stated that their productivity has not been affected, and has mostly been improving when their employees work from home.

Almost all the Indian IT companies’ workers are practicing the work-from-home model, resulting in around 4 million people working at their respective places of residence. However, they are now in no rush to retrieve back to their work places.

“Considering there has been no loss of productivity with remote working, we want to ensure that return to office is not rushed, and takes into account all elements of employee safety and wellbeing as well as business deliverables,” said Richard Lobo, Executive Vice President, HR at Infosys.

“Hexaware policy on employees coming back to campus is not linked to government policies and dates of opening. Instead, the primary focus of our policy is to continue to ensure safety of our employees and service continuity to our customers globally. We believe these dual objectives are best met by our employees continuing to work from home,” said Hexaware Technologies Ltd., Chief Executive Officer, Srikrishna.

HCL Technologies has also said that only 4% of its workforce are working at customer locations. The company’s spokesperson said that their productivity has now gone up by 16-17%.

Adding to the list, Wipro and Tech Mahindra have also reported that their productivity has increased and are not planning to bring in employees at large into their offices.
