Indu Malhotra takes oath as Supreme Court judge

Senior lawyer Indu Malhotra on Friday took oath as the Supreme Court judge, seventh woman judge in the apex court since independence. The 61-year-old is also the first woman lawyer to be directly elevated as the top court judge. The collegium, headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, recommended Uttarakhand Chief Justice KM Joseph and Ms Malhotra’s names for the Supreme Court in January.
