India's Fastest 'Train 18' Pelted With Stones During Trial Run; Window Broken

Train 18, the country’s fastest train is all set to hit the tracks on December 29 from Varanasi. But even before it can be flagged off, it has suffered damage because a person broke its glass by throwing a stone at the train's window.

During its trial run between Agra and Delhi, some miscreants pelted stones at the Railways' fastest train damaging one of its windows.

A Twitter user shared the incident and said “Train 18 running at 180 km/h bet Delhi and Agra at this time…Srinivas, the Chief Design Engineer of ICF is in the cab, they touched 181 km/h for record sake…some vandal threw a stone breaking a glass, hope we nab him.”

Condemning the act, Venkatesan, Public Relation Officer, ICF, appealed to the public not to vandalise railway properties.

"Such act of vandalising the public property such as trains, railway stations, are condemnable, in particular, a prestigious brand new train such as Train 18. Public are requested to desist from vandalising railway properties including trains, railway stations and defacing them. After all, it is the public property that belongs to them," he said.
