Largest Human Trial of 'First Indian Vaccine' for Coronavirus to Begin! - Report
Home > News Shots > India newsThe largest human trials for the novel coronavirus in India is set to commence on July 20, Monday at the national capital. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has approved the vaccine according to reports.
The coronavirus vaccine which was developed jointly by ICMR and Bharat Biotech, required permission from the centre for proceeding with human trials. This vaccine which has been prepared indigenously from scratch, will be used on a minimum of 100 volunteers.
Bharath Biotech has said that human trials will be done on 375 people. However, these trials have been divided into 3 different phases. The first phase begins on July 20.
This vaccine was already given to 10 people in AIIMS Patna, so far and the volunteers did not show any side effects and were also recovering from the infection. Followed by them, 3 volunteers from PGI Hospital in Rohtak were also injected. All three showed positive developments. Health Minister of Haryana commented on it and tweeted, “Human trial with corona vaccine (COVAXIN) of Bharat Biotech started at PGI Rohtak today. Three subjects were enrolled today. All have tolerated the vaccine very well. There were no adverse efforts.”
Previously ICMR had guaranteed that the vaccine will be released in India by August 15.
The number of infections in India has been increasing drastically in the past week. India’s tally has crossed 10 lakhs. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Delhi have been the most affected places in India.
