Hima Das creates history, Indians obsess with her caste instead

Hima Das on Thursday created history by winning gold at the IAAF World U20 Athletics Championships. However, days after her win, Indians seem to be obsessed with her caste more than her feat. When typed Hima Das on Google, the first search suggestion is sadly, 'Hima Das caste' followed by 'Hima Das athlete' and 'Hima Das interview'.

Google is an automated search engine and so search suggestions are generated based on the frequently searched keywords. The search suggestion was noticed by social media users who expressed their disappointment with the regressive notions of Indians.

Reportedly, similar search suggestions were seen for retired athlete PT Usha and badminton player PV Sindhu.
