According to reports, the Punjab government has withdrawn the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) post offered to Indian women T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur after the degree she had submitted was found out to be fake. Reports suggest that she could be demoted as a constable in the state police.
Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had offered the DSP post to Kaur following her performance in the 2017 World Cup. A senior official at the Punjab government reportedly quoted the cricketer as saying that she herself had no knowledge that the degree from Chaudhary Charan Singh University was fake.
Kaur said that her coach got her admission in the university saying that they are lenient about exams, the official added. He further reportedly said that Harmanpreet Kaur may be demoted as constable and will be elevated as DSP once she fulfils the educational requirement for the post.
