‘Hang them One by One, Otherwise, We Cannot,’ says Angry Mother of Nirbhaya!
Home > News Shots > India newsA Delhi High Court has set February 1, 2020, as the date for the four convicts in the Nirbhaya case – Mukesh Singh, Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma and Akshay Thakur – to be hanged. Earlier, the date that was set was January 22, 2020. A visibly enraged Nirbhaya’s mother Asha Devi has asked for the convicts to be hanged one by one, adding that it will teach them a lesson against toying with the law. She was quoted by ANI as saying, “Their tactic to delay hanging has been rejected. I'll be satisfied only when they're hanged on Feb 1. Just like they're delaying it one after other, they must be hanged one by one so that they understand what it means to toy with law.”
Recently, Pawan Gupta had filed a petition stating that he was a minor at the time of the incident, which was promptly rejected by the Supreme Court.
A 23-year-old physiotherapy student was brutally gang-raped in a moving bus in Delhi in 2012. A Delhi court had earlier handed out death sentences to the four accused in the case.
