Girl shoots mother with pistol thinking it was toy

According to reports, a girl accidentally shot her mother in the back when she was playing with a loaded pistol at their house in West Bengal’s Hooghly district on Sunday. The mother reportedly said that she found the pistol in a garden outside their house and gave it to the daughter thinking it was a toy.

A police officer reportedly said that the woman was rushed to a hospital where her condition is critical. The police are questioning the girl to know how the pistol came to in at the garden.

The police officer reportedly cited the girl as saying that the pistol went off when she was playing with it. “She is in a state of shock," he added.
