NDTV reports state that a violent dust storm and rain, with wind speed of 70 km per hour, hit Delhi this evening, resulting in several flights being grounded, trees getting uprooted and in the death of a person as well. The impact also led to operations at the Delhi airport being hit with as many as 40 flights getting diverted.

Further, the reports adds that nine people were killed in Uttar Pradesh and an equal number died in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The met office has predicted thunderstorms across north-west India over the next 48-72 hours, as several weather phenomenon including western disturbances, converge.

A thunderstorm alert has been issued for states from Jammu and Kashmir to Uttar Pradesh and also in east and north-east India, media reports add.
