In a special debate show arranged by Times Now ahead of Karnataka Assembly elections, actor Prakash Raj and BJP MP Subramanian Swamy were involved in an argument over voting rights. When responding to a question from the audience about disenfranchising the Muslims, Swamy said, “The right to vote is not a fundamental right...If they don’t acknowledge that their ancestors are Hindus, they should just not be given the right to vote.” Unhappy over the response, the actor questioned, “You want to turn this country into Sri Lanka?” adding, “When will you talk with your heart? When will you look at people as human beings but not as laws?”
