In a shocking incident in Delhi, 16 girls from kindergarten were locked up inside the basement at a school in Hauz Qazi on Monday as their parents allegedly had not paid the school fees. The children were locked up from 7.30 am to 12.30 pm and were hungry and thirsty, but the teachers didn’t care, the parents alleged.

NDTV quoted a parent named Muhammad Khalid as saying, “If fees are not cleared, why are you punishing the kids? The girls were crying constantly.” Another parent alleged that his child was punished even though he had paid the fees.

Police said that a case has been registered against the school authorities under section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act. An investigation is being carried out, police added.
