Lockdown May Be Extended! PM Modi Hints At All-Party Meeting: Details Listed
Home > News Shots > India newsWith the rise in positive cases and deaths in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hinted at the Centre to extend the nationwide lockdown which is supposed to end on April 14.
A meeting was held via video conferencing, where opposition leaders and leaders of states came together to discuss over the growing coronavirus pandemic.
During the all-party meeting, Prime Minister Modi said that it is a long drawn fight. He also hinted at extending the ongoing lockdown that he announced on March 24. He said, "entire world is currently facing grave challenge of COVID-19, adding that present situation is epoch changing event in mankind's history and we must evolve to counter impact. He praised efforts of states working together with the Centre in fight against the pandemic."
With the rise in number of coronavirus cases, several state governments and experts demanded for an extension of the lockdown.
Meanwhile, PM Modi also stated that he will be speaking to the chief ministers of the state to take a final call on the lockdown. India is currently on a complete lockdown for a period of 21 days which ends on April 14.
