The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday booked 17 people, including 12 army officials for allegedly accepting bribes from candidates for the recruitment of religious teachers in 2013. The First Information Report reportedly said the suspected mastermind, Subedar MN Tripathi, handed a list of 20 candidates to the recruitment panel and asked them to prepare simple questions and give more marks during the hiring process. Tripathi was part of the panel, but was removed following a complaint against him. Four neighbours of Tripathi from Gorakhpur and one person in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar were booked for paying the bribes, reports added.
