Karnataka BJP President BS Yediyurappa took oath as the Chief Minister of the state in front of Governor Vajubhai Vala at Raj Bhavan on Friday(July 26)  following Congress-JD(S) coalition’s loss in the floor test. He has been told to prove his majority in the Legislative Assembly on or before July 31.This will be the fourth term for Yediyurappa as Chief Minister.

Before swearing in, Mr. Yediyurappa said that he would decide on the Ministry after discussing with Home Minister and Party President Amit Shah.

Congress-JD(S) coalition lost its hold on the state after 16 of its MLA’s submitted their resignation to the speaker and two independent MLA’s switched their support to BJP. During the floor test on Tuesday, HD Kumaraswamy Government collapsed as it had only 99 votes against the opposition party’s 105. Following this, Kumaraswamy resigned as the Chief Minister paving way to Yediyurappa.
