The incident happened in Jigani near Anekal. The deceased was identified as Ramesh, a 36-year-old cab driver.  The 38-year-old accused, Muniyappa, drives mini goods tempo.

The police said that he used his father's licensed single barrel gun to kill Ramesh. His father, cousin and Ramesh's wife Kalavathi were also arrested.

Reportedly, Muniyappa and Kalavathi had an affair and ran away a year ago. While Muniyappa returned to the village, Kalavathi did not. Ramesh spoke to the elders to get his wife back but she filed for a divorce.

This led to issues between Ramesh and Muniyappa. Reportedly, Ramesh insulted Muniyappa in front of his house during a meeting and enraged by it, Muniyappa went inside his house and brought his father's gun and shot him. He and his father reportedly stopped the villagers from taking him to the hospital.
