At least seven people were killed and 20 others were injured after a bus with over 60 passengers collided with a stationary lorry In Karnataka’s Tumkur on Sunday, say reports. The bus was returning with over 60 devotees to Sira in Tumkur after a visit to Sri Chowdeshwari Temple in Sigandur village on May 19.


Reports suggest that the bus could’ve been speeding before ramming the truck, which was parked on the left side of the road. Police reportedly said that passengers, who sat on the left side of the bus, were either killed or injured. While three people died on the spot, four people were declared dead at the government hospital in Tumkur. Eight of the injured persons are in a critical condition, say reports.


Only those who travelled in the bus were affected. The driver of the bus reportedly managed to survive the accident. Local police have reportedly registered a case and are probing the incident.
