According to reports, at least 30 people have been injured on Monday after a scaffolding collapsed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally at Collegiate Grounds in Midnapore town in Paschim Medinipur district of West Bengal. The injured were rushed to Midnapore Medical College Hospital where at least three persons are said to be critical.
Reportedly, PM Modi witnessed the incident which took place when he was delivering a speech. Many were trapped under the collapsed shade leading to a stampede. The PM later visited the injured in the hospital.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, meanwhile, has tweeted assuring medical treatment to the injured. She also said, “We pray for the speedy recovery of all those injured at the Midnapore rally today. The government is giving all help for medical treatment.”
