According to reports, a 21-year-old aspiring cricketer on Sunday died while playing on the ground in Kolkata after getting hit by a lightning. Debabrata Pal had joined Calcutta Cricket Club in south Kolkata last month.
Reportedly, the victim was walking back to his tent at 1.45 pm, when he was struck by the lightning. Pal died on the way to the hospital.
An official reportedly said, "We were about to start our practice session when lightning began in the afternoon. He suddenly collapsed and we rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead."
