According to reports, a boat carrying 31 people capsized in the Godavari River near Pasuvula Lanka village on Saturday evening. Reportedly, six students are still missing.
The district authorities have reportedly called the chances of survival slim and the rescue mission was even called off due to low-light conditions. Deputy CM Nimmakayala Chinna Rajappa said, "While 25 of them have been rescued so far, six are still missing. We stopped rescue operations because it was getting dark and the current was strong."
The boat carrying mostly students reportedly capsized at around 4.30 pm after hitting a pillar of a bridge. The missing students have been identified as Ramya, Maneesha, Srija, Priya, Anusha and Suchitra.
