Anna University to Conduct Final Year Exams Online – Dates, AI Invigilation and Other Important Details
Home > News Shots > India newsAfter the novel coronavirus infection spread had postponed university exams infinitely, Anna University on Tuesday has announced that the final year exams will commence online by the end of this month.
With over 20,000 final year students who are waiting to complete their graduation and purse their careers, the university has decided to put an end to their uncertainty. While students can opt to take an online exam, those without digital facilities can choose to give their offline exams later.
The online exams are likely to be conducted for a time period of one hour for each exam and the candidates will be closely monitored with artificial intelligence tools that will record the physical movements of students, prevent audio malpractices, locking the computer screen usage and so on. “We decided to conduct the online exam to protect the future students. It will make their degrees credible and facilitate their early on-boarding and higher studies,” said MK Surappa, the Vice-Chancellor of Anna University.
“We will give 30% weightage for the online test and 70% weightage for internal assessment and project work,” he added.
Other autonomous colleges are also likely to conduct online exams, says a report from TOI. These decisions have come after the University Grants Commission (UGC) instructed that all final year university exam students must give exams.
