Air India reportedly said that its flight, who took off from Chennai on Wednesday, returned to the city airport after suffering a bird-hit. The plane, AI 440, carrying 131 passengers on board suffered the hit 20 minutes into its journey.


Reportedly, the pilot suspected the bird-strike when the flight was 500 kmph over Gummidipoondi area. An Air India spokesperson said that all the passengers on the flight were safe adding that the engineers of the national carrier are examining the plane to assess any damage caused by the bird-hit.

 

He also said that the passengers of flight were accommodated in subsequent Air India flights and those of other private carriers.
