Successful Human Trial of 'Coranavirus Vaccine': First Man Injected with COVAXIN at AIIMS - Doctors 'Reveal' details of Test Results!

The 30-year-old was injected around 1:30 pm on Friday, July 24. His report suggests that no immediate side effects were detected. His condition has been very stable with potential for progress. He is likely to be observed closely for the next 7 days. However, considering the safety of the vaccine, 10 other healthy individuals were selected to be given the vaccine.

This way, 100 people are expected to voluntarily be injected and observed. COVAXIN was developed by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech, ICMR, and the National institute of Virology.

Phase 1 of the on-going trial will be done on healthy people from the age group 18 and 55, with the exception of pregnant women. In Phase 2, 750 people will be tested between the age of 12 and 65. Dr Randeeo Guleria said, “In the first phase we see the safety of the vaccine which is of primary importance and the dose range is also calculated.”

He further added that 1,800 volunteers have already registered for the trial at AIIMS, Delhi.
