After Rahul Gandhi's Resignation, Congress Picks Its New President!

The Congress Working Committee named Sonia Gandhi as the party's interim chief after a meeting on Saturday. This move came after Rahul Gandhi resigned his position after the Lok Sabha defeat and refused to reconsider his resignation.

Even in the beginning of the CWC meeting, Rahul was requested to take his resignation back. But he firmly refused.

Randeep Surjewala said, “Sonia Gandhi has the experience and from time to time we have turned towards her for guidance, so it was only appropriate that she takes over" explaining the decision.

The committee also spoke about various resolutions in the meeting. Sonia was Congress' chief  before Rahul took over.
