A stage actress from West Bengal died on Tuesday night after getting bit by a snake with which she was performing. Reportedly, 63-year-old Kalidasha Mondal was playing the role of Manasha, the Hindu goddess of snakes and used a live spectacled-cobra to wrap around her hand for a realistic touch. However, the snake ended up bitting her.

According to reports, instead of being taken to the hospital, a witch doctor was called, who treated her for four hours. As Kalidasha's condition continued to deteriorate, she was finally taken to a hospital where she was declared brought dead. State forest minister, Benoy Burman reportedly said that if the actress was taken to the hospital immediately after being bit by the snake, she could have been saved.
