Aadhaar to be linked to driving license?

In a bid to crackdown on drunken driving and weed out fake licenses, the government is mulling about linking Aadhaar to driving licenses.

Union Minister of Law and Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday said that he is in talks with Road Transport minister Nitin Gadkari to get driver licences linked with the 12-digit unique identification number.

In the past Aadhaar was required to be linked to mobile numbers, bank accounts, PAN, ration card, and a number of other services, in order to bring in transparency or so the government claimed.
