According to reports, personal and professional data of more than 2.7 crore registered members of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) are under threat after its Aadhaar linking portal was allegedly hacked.

 

The Central Provident Fund Commissioner reportedly sent an emergency letter to the Common Service Centre Chief Executive Dinesh Tyagi stating that the Aadhaar portal that links Aadhaar number with users' provident fund accounts was hacked. EPFO reportedly shut down the portal after the alleged breach.

 

The Commissioner wrote that they received information from the Intelligence Bureau. Even though the magnitude of the breach is not known, information like names, addresses and salary details could have been stolen.
