Pillala Marri, a 700-year-old banyan tree, is located in Mahabubnagar in Telangana. The tree which is said to be in existence since 1200 AD has some termite infestation which was leading to its gradual decay.
Forest officials are injecting pesticides through drips to protect it from decaying. The tree is spread across an area of 3 acres. It is a major tourist destination in Telangana.
