News 7 reports that fares from Chennai to nearby cities such as Madurai, Bengaluru, Kochi, Visakhapatnam, etc, has been slashed by half. The discounts are applicable for travel post June 21.

Chennai-Trivandrum ticket costs Rs 1,954 from the earlier Rs 4,334. Chennai-Madurai is going at Rs 1,700 from the earlier Rs 3,800. 

The discount in fare has been attributed to the fact that the holiday season has been over and also in a bid to catch the attention of international passengers who might travel domestic. 

However, prices to Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, etc, from the Chennai sector has been on the rise.
