Do You Know The Dirtiest Place At The Airport? No It's Not The Toilet

Have you ever wondered what the dirtiest place at the airport must be? Let me tell you that it's not the toilets.

According to a study conducted by the University of Nottingham and Finnish National Institute for Health and Welfare, security trays at the airport contain the most amount of germs. The study revealed how the plastic trays have more viruses than public toilets.

The study, which was published in the BMC Infectious Diseases journal, also claims to have monitered germ levels from multiple surfaces at the airport.

Apart from the trays, researchers also collected samples from handrails on escalators, lift buttons, luggage trolleys, and toys in the kids play area. Of these, security trays were found to possess the highest risk of viral contamination, with four out of eight samples testing positive. Ironically, the researchers could not find any visible evidence of viruses on the toilet surfaces.

So, the next time you decide to put your laptop, mobile phone or other items in the security tray, make sure you carry some hand sanitizer in order to keep germs away.
