Good News! Wipro Reveals Plan on Hiring For Freshers and Lateral Candidates - Report
Home > News Shots > Business newsAmid COVID-19 pandemic and global economic crisis, IT major Wipro has announced to have “robust" hiring plans for the second half of the fiscal year. The company also plans to onboard a mix of freshers and laterals during the third and fourth quarters.
This big and good news was revealed by Saurabh Govil, chief human resources officer, Wipro, who said in a recent interview.
He said the hiring will be across geographies including in US, Europe, and India in skills in new-age technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), digital, and internet of things (IoT).
According to LiveMint report, the Bengaluru-based firm stated that it never stopped hiring during the nationwide covid-induced lockdown.
During pandemic, they hired about 12,000 employees including 3,000 freshers in the second quarter ended September and the voluntary attrition rate on a trailing twelve months (TTM) basis declined to 11 percent from 13 percent in the previous quarter.
Further giving out information on promotions, Wipro said it will roll out promotions for “high performers" in bands up to B3 that will be effective from December 1, 2020. Bands up to B3 form about 80 percent of the company’s workforce which translates to about 1,45,000 employees out of its total headcount of over 1,80,000, LiveMint further reported.
Explaining about the hikes, Govil said the hikes will be in the typical range as last year which is 4-10 percent for on-site employees and 8-10 percent for offshore.
Currently, 98 percent of Wipro's employees are working from home although chairman Rishad Premji recently said that he believes it is important for people to work from offices to build culture and nurture innovation.
