Hours after taking responsibilities as Wipro's new CEO, Thierry Delaporte wrote his first letter to employees stating that the software major must strive for industry-leading growth and the culture of innovation will help the company transform.

In his first letter to employees, he said he will spend time with senior leaders over the next few days to get a holistic view of the business. "This is a defining period for our industry and Wipro. The culture of innovation fostered here over the ages will help us pivot and transform.  Despite the immediate challenges,  I have no doubt that we will emerge stronger. We must strive for improvement in all spheres and achieve industry-leading growth," the letter added.

Pointing over his initial working days, Delaporte said he has spent time with chairman Rishad Premji and will have conversations with senior leaders over the next few days.    

"In the last few weeks, I have had wide-ranging conversations with Rishad. I was struck by his clarity of thought, his principled approach to leadership and his commitment to bring about a cultural shift to create an environment that drives a growth mindset. Over the next few days, I will be spending time with senior leaders and teams across units and functions to take a holistic view of our business and better understand our opportunities and challenges. I am equally keen to understand your thoughts ideas and aspirations," he added in the letter.

Delaporte is taking charge at a time when Wipro has been lagging peers. 

"Today is my first day both as a Wiproite and as your CEO. As you are aware I worked with Capgemini for over 25 years. I have known Wipro as one of the pioneering leaders. In the industry and over the years I have come to greatly respect and admire the company, it's values, it's people and it's capabilities," he said. 

Delaporte has been Capgemini for the past 25 years, where he was the Chief Operating Officer.
