TCS, Wipro and Infosys make fresh announcements on employees! Details.

Unlock 1 kicked off on Monday and the whole country has started reopening businesses and services. However, IT companies might continue working from home. While some companies plan to continue working from home, others are planning to reopen in a phased manner. 

95% of TCS employees and 97% of Wipro employees continue working from home. Infosys is carrying it out in a phased manner. At present 2% of its employees have started working from office in phase-1. The percentage would go up to 5 or 6% in phase 2.

"We are resuming operations in a phased manner in select offices with minimal capacity. Guidelines include awareness sessions for employees and vendors, self-declaration forms, alteration of workspace layout and virtual collaboration tools for meetings. Other measures include temperature screening at all entry gates, use of hand sanitizers, periodic deep cleaning and disinfecting of office premises as also sanitizing all vehicles entering TCS premises," a TCS spokesperson said.

Whereas Wipro said it is going to adopt a staggered approach towards reopening offices. "During the initial phase, we expect only a small percentage of our workforce- less than 10%- to return to work from our facilities. These would be those who are engaged in projects that haven't received approval for work from home from clients. We continue to adhere to WHO guidelines to make sure all the safeguard measures are in place."

TCS has over 4 lakh employees. Infosys and Wipro have nearly 2.5 lakh and1.71 lakh respectively, making the top three some of India's largest employers in the private sector.

“TCS said only 25% of its employees will need to work from its facilities by 2025 and that every employee can work without spending more than 25% of their time in a TCS office. Infosys, on the other hand, believes that while some work will be done from home, it's also crucial to work from office to build social capital,” Times Now cited in its report.

"We were able to work remotely because of the social capital that various teams have built from years of working together in the office. They know and trust each other. While it is important to continue working from home till there is a medical breakthrough, once things are better, we should look at rebuilding social capital. Underestimating the value of that will cause problems for companies," Salil Parekh told ET NOW.
