HCL's Shiv Nadar tops in giving donation, Reliance's Ambani in third position!

HCL's Shiv Nadar and his family tops in giving charity having donated Rs.826 crores. Reliance's Mukesh Ambani is in third position while Premji is in second in the Edelgive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2019.

Azim Premji promised to donate USD 21 billion and made headlines. He gave Rs.453 crores while Ambani donated Rs.402 crores.

Edelgive Foundation chief executive Vidya Shah said that the fear of being associated with social causes is acting as a hinderance for corporates from giving more donation.

Corporates have been into philanthropy for long but the Companies Act 2013 made it mandatory for firms above a given threshold to give 2 percent of their profit to CSR.
