40% Indians Fear Losing Jobs for This Reason!
Home > News Shots > Business newsOver 40% of Indians fear that they could lose their jobs because of controversial content on their social media channels, claims a study released on Tuesday by cybersecurity firm McAfee.
In the research involving 1,000 adults, 25.7% confessed to posting negative content about their current workplace, while 46.9% prefer to keep their personal and work life separate. 25.3% admitted that they don't know how to change privacy settings on their social media and over a third said they have not done anything to change privacy settings despite knowing how to.
21.2% said they know someone whose career or job prospects has been affected negatively by their social media content, while 40% admitted that they could lose their job over their social media content.
"Giving your social media accounts a routine clean-up can minimise the negative impact on corporate reputation. Consumers also need to ensure that they increase privacy settings on active accounts and shut dormant accounts, so information doesn't get into the wrong hands," Venkat Krishnapur, Vice-President of Engineering and Managing Director, McAfee India was quoted as saying by livemint.
