Salaried class warned against filing wrong IT returns

The Income Tax Department reportedly cautioned the taxpayers in salaried class against using 'illegal means' warning that the violators will be prosecuted.

The IT department included under-reporting of income under violation of IT rules.

The Central Processing Centre (CPC) was quoted as saying "Such offences are punishable under various penal and prosecution provisions of the Income Tax Act."
