Home > News Shots > Business newsAfter TCS and Infosys’ announcements on work from home, another leading company, IBM reportedly announced that 75% of its employees will be working from home in the coming months. According to a report by Trak.in, only 25% of the employees will be working from office and the company is also undergoing large scale administrative and logistical changes.
Economic times cited a source from IBM who revealed that the 75% of employees who are set to work from home will have a flexible work schedule. “Maybe 25% of the people need to come to the office regularly. For others, it will be flexible, and their workspace will also be the same.”
IBM has 3.5 lakh employees in total and almost 1 lakh employees are from India. Reportedly, IBM is also planning to reduce its office spaces since many employees will be working from home from now on.
At present IBM has more than 100,000 square feet of office space in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Noida, Gurugram and Kolkata, and 50% of this office space will be removed. IBM’s global revenues fell by 2% to reach Rs 27,279 crore in 2019, as the profits reduced to Rs 2426 crore, a dip of 12%.
"IBM continually looks at our real estate to ensure it services the needs of IBMers and how we serve our clients. The speculation in this report is inaccurate," IBM said in a statement.
However, a senior executive told that it will be relooking upon lease agreements that are up to renewal and take decision accordingly.
