After the Indian Oil Corporation announced the cut in petrol and diesel prices, India’s biggest oil making company revised its website on the rate cut in few hours.
"The reduction was supposed to be 1 paisa but due to a clerical error, the price prevalent on May 25 was communicated as today's price," news reports cited a senior official of Indian Oil Corporation as saying.
Despite Wednesday's mild reduction, petrol and diesel prices are still near all-time highs in some cities, including Delhi and Mumbai.
With effect from 6:00 am on 30/05/2018, petrol prices were at:
Chennai - Rs. 81.42 per litre
Delhi - Rs. 78.42 per litre
Kolkata - Rs. 81.05 per litre
Mumbai - Rs. 86.23 per litre
Diesel prices were at:
Chennai - Rs. 73.17 per litre
Delhi - Rs. 69.3 per litre
Kolkata - Rs. 71.85 per litre
Mumbai - Rs. 73.78 per litre
