Good News! Amazon To Hire 75,000 More People After Hiring 100,000 Candidates Last Month
Home > News Shots > Business newsAmid the layoffs and low economic crisis, Amazon announced to hire another 75,000 people after already filling the 1,00,000 new positions that opened last month. Looking at the current stats, Amazon has increased its initial $350 million investment in extra staffing to over $500 million.
Amazon made the big announcement on its blog saying, "Today, we are proud to announce that our original 100,000 jobs pledge is filled and those new employees are working at sites across the U.S. helping to serve customers. We continue to see increased demand as our teams support their communities, and are going to continue to hire, creating an additional 75,000 jobs to help serve customers during this unprecedented time.”
This good news comes at a time when nearly lakhs of people have joined the unemployment ranks in the last three weeks. Amid the hiring factor and coronavirus fear, Amazon is keen to take advantage of long-term social distancing policies.
Earlier in the week, the company announced that it was setting up its own Coronavirus testing lab to address health concerns of people working in its facilities.
