WATCH VIDEO: Path-breaking ‘Speed’ of Bugatti Chiron Sets New ‘World Record’!
Home > News Shots > Automobile newsThe car manufacturing biggie, Bugatti released a new video showcasing the specially-made Chiron 1 Sportscar tearing down the Ehra-Lessien track in Germany's Lower Saxony. The Bugatti Chiron driven by Chief pilot Andy Wallace on the test track ran at a speed of 490.4kmph. Bugatti's official twitter account declared it a World Record run.
Being the heavily modified version of the road-legal Chiron hypercar, the new Bugatti Chiron is priced at €3 million ($3.3 million). After the run on the Volkswagon owned longest test track in the World, Bugatti chief pilot Andy Wallace broke the previous 300 mph World record. Reportedly Bugatti confirmed that the Chiron 1 is the first hyper sports car to break the previous 300-mile-per-hour World record in a press statement.
"It's inconceivable that a car would be capable of this. But the Chiron was well prepared and I felt very safe — even in these high-speed ranges," Wallace was quoted as saying by DW.
Further, in an interview to Car and Driver Magazine, Wallace said that the speed transmitting system could not keep track of the speed as he was pacing on the track and only the speed engineers informed him that he had cracked the 300mph barrier after analysing the data.
