WATCH | This Popular Auto-Maker Just Unveiled A Bike That Can Ride On Its Own
Home > Automobile newsWe've all heard of self -driving cars. The idea has gone from a far out idea to reality. Now a popular German auto-maker has unveiled a motorcycle that can start, accelerate, steer, brake and stop, all without a rider.
Yes! BMW has showcased its first self-driving motorcycle at the BMW Motorrad Techday 2018. While it is a big leap in the world of bikes, BMW has pointed out that it is not looking to fill the roads with a rider-less motorcycle. Rather, the technology should serve as a platform for systems that would improve the safety and handling of conventional motorcycles.
“We want to teach the motorcycle how to ride a bike,” said Stefan Hans, the engineer who leads the self-driving motorcycle project for BMW Motorrad.
The idea of a rider-less motorcycle can receive mixed reactions from the public. Some would oppose the very idea of the bike predicting anything to the rider. However, there are lots of riders who don't have faith in ABS. To them, this prototype might seem like a handy technology.
