RK Nagar is all set to get it’s first MLA after the demise of J Jayalalithaa. TTV Dhinakaran, the rebel leader who was sidelined by the ruling party members has taken a huge victory with 89,013 votes. In spite of not winning the two-leaves symbol and having lost the support of most of the ruling party members, this victory is a historic one.
After J Jayalalithaa’s demise, his journey started after he was elected as AIADMK’s Deputy General Secretary.
He contested in RK Nagar in the month of April - 2017 with 'Thoppi' symbol as the two leaves symbol was frozen by the Election Commission
Sasikala was sentenced to imprisonment which was a huge backlash for him as he was sidelined by the other leaders. A merger between Edappadi Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam happened.
Properties owned by TTV Dhinakaran and his aunt VK Sasikala were raided by IT officials.
He lost in the battle of the two-leaves symbol as the Election Commission.
He filed his nomination as an independent candidate to contest in RK Nagar by-election - December 2017.
The video, allegedly shot by VK Sasikala was displayed in public platform by TTV Dinakaran's supporter Vetrivel. This was widely criticized by many political leaders as they said it was a tactic by TTV Dhinakaran to win the election.
He won in RK Nagar by-poll with a huge difference of 40,707 which is considered as a battle between TTV Dhinakaran and OPS-EPS.
