Tamil Nadu has witnessed several tragic fire accidents that cost the lives of many and caused huge damage to property. Recurring fire accidents across the state is only a reminder of the awareness that is required to increase the safety and preventive measures at times of such mishap.
The fire accident occurred on 6, August 2001 at a mental asylum in Erwadi village and claimed the lives of 28 people who were bound by chains.
