The 1974 railway strike in India was the strike by workers of Indian Railways. More than 17 lakh workers strike for 20 days. The workers demanded a raise in pay scale.

Mandal commission protests of 1990 were against reservation in government jobs based on caste in India. Several labour unions joined the protest, including students union. On 2 September 2016, an estimated 150 million Indian public sector workers reportedly went on a 24-hour nationwide general strike. The strike was reportedly planned against the government's plans for increasing privatisation and other economic policies. Notably, this is the largest strike in human history.
