VALLEEM THETTI PULLEEM THETTI MOVIE REVIEW

Valleem Thetti Pulleem Thetti (VTPT), the directorial debut of Rishi Sivakumar has Kunchacko Boban and Shamili in the lead, it also features Renji Panicker, Manoj K.Jayan, Suresh Krishna in supporting roles. The movie had created a buzz among the audience with its fresh look in posters, trailers and songs. VTPT marks Shamili’s return to Mollywood and it is her first movie as a heroine in Malayalam. It is a satire set at the backdrop of a rustic village in the 1990s. The plot revolves around a ‘C’ class theater (Sreedevi Theater) in the village where Vinayan (Kunchacko) is the projector operator. He is deeply in love with Sreedevi (Shamili), the daughter of a landlord called Bhagavan.  

The effort put in by the debutant director Rishi Sivakumar to make VTPT a visually delightful
entertainer has to be appreciated. Kunjunni S Kumar, the DoP, has come up with one of his career best works; raising the standards of cinematography above his own benchmarks. The enthralling music by Sooraj S Kuruppu is another catch of VTPT and it is bound to remain on the lips of the audience for a long time.

Kunchacko Boban’s dazzling dance sequences and his romantic charisma are the highlights of his performance. Shamili has done a decent job, but her heavy makeup seems to have let her down. Suresh Krishna, Renji Panicker, Manoj K Jayan lived up to the expectations and have performed well. The rib-tickling comedy by Krishna Shankar is well supported by the unique mannerisms and attractive dialogue delivery by Aneesh G Menon; they are sure to be applauded by the audience.

The lack of experience in writer-director Rishi Sivakumar is clearly visible as he looses control of the screenplay at times. Usual comical sequences, insubstantial and under-developed story line transform what could’ve been a good movie into an average non-fulfilling endeavors.
