The title Swarna Kaduva means 'Golden Tiger' and Biju Menon surely is the Golden Tiger of Malayalam cinema. He has emerged to be one of the few actors to get a good initial pull and that is one of the reason, the movie has released in 104 screens in Kerala.
Scripted by Babu Janardhanan and directed by Jose Thomas, Swarna Kaduva is a comedy film that tells the story of a swindler who eventually becomes a Gold Merchant. There are many bone tickling sequences that add life to this otherwise average script. The screenplay has all the ingredients common to movies that have a fraudster as the leading character, but Biju Menon's performance gives it an extra colour. The director has only done a pretty average job as he could have created magic with proper homework.
The highlight of the movie is humor and brilliant performances by Biju Menon and Hareesh Perumanna. They both have good chemistry together and it has been utilised efficiently in the movie. Iniya delivers a noteworthy performance while Innocent's character is a tailor made one for him. The rest of the cast include Suresh Krishna, Poojita Nair, and Sudhir Karamana.
The background score by Gopi Sunder is average and only the title score has his usual charm. Ratheesh Vegha has composed two songs, sung by Vijay Yesudas and Najim Arshad, which are good and enjoyable.
Manoj Pillai's cinematography has nothing special to it and lends a hand along with the direction and the screenplay to make the movie an average one. The hilarious moments created by comic timing and dialogue deliveries of Biju Menon and Hareesh are the notable things that stand out in the movie.
