Friendship, Fun, Love and Career. This is what director Rafi and actor Fahadh Faasil's first collective venture 'Role Models' is all about. The comedy film written and directed by Rafi has Fahadh Faasil, Sharafudheen, Vinayakan, Vinay Fortt and Namitha Pramod in the lead roles. The movie is shot mainly in Kochi and Goa.

The plot of the movie revolves around Gowtham (Fahadh) and his college friends whom his father brings back to his life to transform him back to the jovial guy he was in college. His friends played by Vinayakan, Sharafudheen and Vinay Fortt were expelled from college by Gowtham's father (Renji Panicker) to save him from their 'bad' friendship. The resulting turn of events transform Gowtham into a killjoy. Mysteries unfold when the three friends try to bring back the old Gowtham who was the lead singer in their college band 'Role Models'.

Despite having some twists in it, Rafi's screenplay is not as impressive as his comedy. Humor is what holds together the loosely written screenplay which has many fabricated plots in it, especially the character and story of Bibin George.

Vinayakan, Vinay and Sharafudheen compete with each other in entertaining the audience with humor. There is no other actor who could've pulled off Gowtham as convincingly as Fahadh. Namitha Pramod's modern avatar is impressive, but pairing her with Fahadh might appear a little mismatched. Special mention to Rafi who effortlessly perform alongside Renji Panicker, Suraj Venjarammood and Seetha.

The music and BGM by Gopi Sunder effectively create the right mood for the film, be it the light moments or the romantic sequences. The song 'Theru There Ororo' has been used many times by him throughout the movie to instigate the right emotion successfully. The cinematography by Shamdat Sainudeen, the man behind the camera of Vishwaroopam 2 and Uttama Villian, has done a decent work.
