The much-awaited directorial debut of actor Dhyan Sreenivasan that features Nivin Pauly and Nayanthara in the lead roles - Love Action Drama (LAD) - is finally out in theatres. Apart from directing, Dhyan himself has penned the script for the film. The movie is produced by Aju Varghese and Visakh Subramaniam under the banner Funtastic Films. As the name implies the movie intends to be a fun-filled entertainer with moments of love, action, and drama.

Dineshan (Nivin Pauly) is an irresponsible, carefree, alcoholic who falls in love with Shobha (Nayanthara). He somehow manages to win her love but Shobha puts forward certain conditions in order to reaffirm their relationship. How some quirky incidents shake up their relationship and love life, forms the rest of the movie.

Though the basic crux of the movie is little cliched and predictable, it has been shot and presented in a very vibrant manner. Dhyan, has done justice to his role as a director and has strived to make the movie a complete entertainer that will appeal well to youngsters. The script lags a bit but the craft and background score compensates in a big way. The foot-tapping songs by Shaan Rahman are also commendable.

Nivin Pauly plays to the gallery by acting within his comfort zone as a romantic hero. The Nivin-Aju Varghese combo has also worked out well especially in bringing laughter into the theatres. Nayanthara brings an amazing screen presence to every scene, though the movie rarely taps her potential as an actor or star. However, her performance makes the movie colourful and entertaining. The movie also has an ensemble cast featuring Sreenivasan, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Mallika Sukumaran, and Jude Antony Joseph.

The movie begins at a slow pace and gets really engaging towards the end of the first half but the second half slows down again, mainly due to highly dramatic dialogues. Jomon T John and Roby Varghese Raj have cranked the camera and have pulled off their job wonderfully well.

The movie has all elements that can be relatable to young viewers, but it will be interesting to see how the family audience will welcome the film. If you are game for a complete entertainer, Love Action Drama is an entertaining watch.
