The title 'Kavi Uddeshichath?' is an idiom commonly used to ask what one actually intended. The movie directed by Thomas-Liju Thomas features Asif Ali, Narain, Lena and Biju Menon in the lead roles. Written by Thomas and Martin Duro, it is produced jointly by Asif Ali and Sajin Jaffer under the banner Adam's World of Imagination.
The plot is set in a fictitious village Allimoola and revolves around a group of volleyball passionate youngsters. Jimmy (Asif Ali) and Bosco (Narain) place a bet on whose team will win the volleyball tournament of their village. Their struggles to make their team win forms the soul of the movie.
Even though the direction is amateurish and has flaws throughout the movie, the director duo has managed to pull out an average film. But it is a complete disappointment as a sports film till the climax where things get a bit interesting. The screenplay is dragging and has many cliched flashback scenes that lack substance. The lack of solid and strong script results in a less engaging movie with some hilarious situations in it. The writers seem to be confused whether to make a thrilling sports film or a fun filled comedy film.
Every actor has performed finely in the movie which could have been better if proper homework was done in the script. The fights between Asif Ali's and Narain's gang are fun to watch at times. Biju Menon's comedy timing successfully generates laughter and he delivers a decent performance. Lena also does justice to her character. Saiju Kurup's character did not have much to do in the story.
The music department handled by Jakes Bejoy and Vinu Thomas does not match up to their caliber. The background is average and does not help to connect with the movie. The songs are not catchy enough and just breeze through one's mind.
The cinematography by Shahnad Jalal has no extraordinary stuff in it but is neat and watchable.
